The generic payment feature is a feature on your marketplace that allows you to bring your own payment processor, apart from Stripe (which are Arcadier’s default payment processors). As an admin, you may enable this feature from your dashboard under ‘Payments’. However, we suggest that you seek assistance from a tech developer with relevant payment integration knowledge as this process can be very confusing.
This feature is available in all payment packages from Basic to Enterprise.
How would payment settlements work if I use generic payment processor(s)?
If you use generic payment processor(s), you as the marketplace admin will be the Merchant of Record. Being Merchant of Record would mean that you will be receiving all the money (subject to the commission from your payment partner(s)) from transactions on your marketplace. It is your responsibility as the marketplace admin to make arrangements with your sellers to disburse the money to them.

What happens if I run into potential errors with my generic payment processor(s)? How can Arcadier help if I run into any potential generic payment errors/troubles?
Unfortunately, Arcadier is unable to provide you with much assistance with regards to errors that occur during transactions with generic payment processors. When you add your own generic payment processor, successful transactions in your marketplace depends on the payment processor and the connector created by you/your tech developer. If either of these fail, your sellers might lose out on orders as your buyers will be unable to complete payment for their transactions in your marketplace. It is important that you are aware of this and allow transactions sent to your connector to be traceable. Arcadier is not able to trace these transactions. We are only able to tell if the transaction is successful or not.
Can I not use Arcadier’s default payment processors (Stripe)?
Yes, you may choose to use your generic payment processors only and not use Arcadier’s default payment processors (Stripe) at all. For example, Russian marketplaces may only want to use Qiwi Wallet and Yandex Money while Chinese marketplaces may only want to use Alipay and Ten Pay.
How do I use other payment partners?
You can use other payment partners by activating the generic payments feature from your admin dashboard. You use the generic payments feature by creating a connector that runs on your own server. This means you might need to get a developer to help you create the connector. We have provided worked examples, showing a CASH payment solution so developers can get a head start on how this all works.
