Shipping and pickup workflows reuse the Address entity but apply it in different contextual roles:
- Shipping Address References - During checkout, the buyer selects a delivery address from their address book. That selected Address record is:
- Referenced in the Invoice
- Attached to each generated Order
- Used by the merchant for fulfillment
- Merchant Pickup Locations - Pickup locations represent predefined collection points configured by a Merchant (not user-owned). that have the following characteristics:
- Stored as Address records
- PickupAddressId Linked to specific Items
- Exposed to buyers during checkout selection.
| Note: The Get Pickup Method by Item ID endpoint allows Consumers and Guests to retrieve pickup locations for a specific item without requiring elevated permissions. |
